Components of radiator

Automobile radiator is composed of water inlet chamber, water outlet chamber and radiator core. Coolant flows in the radiator core, and air passes outside the radiator. The hot coolant is cooled by radiating heat to the air, while the cold air is heated by absorbing the heat emitted by the coolant.

How does the radiator work?

The internal combustion engine becomes very hot during operation. Because many metal parts move rapidly and rub together inside the engine, all these frictions generate a lot of heat. The engine relies on coolant to keep these parts cool, so they will not overheat. However, the coolant can not only keep cool, but the heat from the metal parts is transferred to the coolant. The only way for the coolant to remove this heat is through the radiator. The function of the radiator is to take this heat out of the coolant and put it into the air blown by the fan. Then, the coolant circulates back to the engine.

Radiator of water cooling system

Many cars use water cooling devices to heat the engine. The engine water cooling system is mainly composed of water pump, radiator, cooling fan, thermostat, engine body and cylinder head water jacket. The layout of automotive radiators is also constantly adapting to new developments. The core of the tube fin radiator is composed of a lot of thin cooling pipes and heat sink, and a lot of metal heat sink is placed on the cooling pipe jacket to increase the heat dissipation area and the rigidity and strength of the radiator itself. Let the coolant flow through, the coolant as a medium, the heat is transferred from the machine to the coolant, relying on the flow of coolant to send the heat away, and then distributed to the atmosphere, so that the engine temperature is reduced, and the cooling fluid flows back to the heated parts. In order to complete the coolant and heat exchange between the air and heat sink, heat absorption, and then through a variety of ways to transfer the heat to the distant, such as chassis in the atmosphere, and then the chassis will pass the hot atmosphere outside the chassis, so as to complete the heat dissipation of the car.

Steps for flushing the radiator of an automobile:

Drain the coolant first, the old coolant needs to be drained from the radiator first, your engine needs to be cooled beforehand; Add the cleaner, after putting the cleaner into the radiator, also add distilled water to the reservoir, turn on the vehicle, then set the heater to full, in the next 5 minutes, the cleaner and distilled water will remove all sediment, rust and other debris from the cooling system, turn off the car and let it sit for half an hour:

Drain again, after the cleaning process is over, you need to drain all the cleaning fluid and distilled water from the radiator, then flush the cooling system again with regular tap water to make sure the sediment is removed, then drain the tap water: Add new coolant, you can continue to add new coolant to the radiator reservoir, when done, start the vehicle and let the coolant pass through the engine for about 15 minutes.
